This unique experience, offered through We Wander, showcases an area of the Canning River that is only accessible by kayak and reveals the rich history and ecology of the region.
The tour starts near the Canning River Bridge in Riverton, where you''ll meet the passionate and experienced GoGo Active Tours guides. As you paddle slowly into the wetlands area, you''ll have the opportunity to observe the diverse birdlife, learn about the area''s Indigenous history, and hear about the early European explorers.
The tour then takes you to explore the alluvial islands and estuarine vegetation of the Canning River Regional Park, culminating in a well-deserved rest at Kent Street Weir. Afterward, you''ll paddle back to the starting point via a slightly different route, taking in the stunning scenery along the way.
This EASY-rated tour takes approximately 40 minutes each way, with no waves and minimal motor boat access, ensuring a calm and enjoyable experience. GoGo Active Tours provides all necessary equipment, including kayaks, paddles, life jackets, and dry bags, and all guides are trained in first aid and water safety.
To participate, you need to bring appropriate clothing, sunscreen, a hat, a full water bottle, and some money for the cafes stop. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, and the minimum age for participation is 8 years old.
